{"id":1166,"date":"2014-03-07T16:08:27","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T23:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/?p=1166"},"modified":"2019-02-11T16:17:56","modified_gmt":"2019-02-11T23:17:56","slug":"how-to-cut-a-pineapple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/devsite\/how-to-cut-a-pineapple\/","title":{"rendered":"How to cut a Pineapple"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>I know&#8230; It&#8217;s just a Pineapple!<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pina Colada Recipe I did the other day made me realize that it probably wouldn&#8217;t be a bad idea to whip a quick &#8220;How to&#8221; slice and dice a Pineapple. &nbsp;Well that and the fact that even my own mother doesn&#8217;t know how to do it either. &nbsp;Also I was noticing the price difference between a whole fresh Pineapple vs. already sliced Pineapple. &nbsp;The fresh whole Pineapple I could purchase for $2.98 ea., but the pre-cut Pineapple was twice that price for about 2\/3 of a entire Pineapple. So what would you do? &nbsp;That&#8217;s what I thought&#8230; let&#8217;s learn how easy it is to rip one of these fruits to shreds, shall we?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_0231.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1167\" alt=\"IMG_0231\" src=\"http:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_0231-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"725\" height=\"543\" srcset=\"https:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/devsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_0231-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/devsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_0231-scaled-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/devsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_0231-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/poormansgourmetkitchen.com\/devsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/IMG_0231-700x525.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>First, how do we pickem&#8217;?<\/h3>\n<div>Pineapple have 4 easy signs to look for:<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Look for a bright green fern growing out of the top of that fruit. &nbsp;If it&#8217;s dead or drying out, it probably isn&#8217;t the healthiest or the most nutrient.<\/li>\n<li>A bright green and yellow fruit means it needs more ripening. &nbsp;So unless you&#8217;re purposefully buying your pineapple days in advance you are going to have a sour and bitter fruit. &nbsp;Look for less green and feel that the outside is susceptible to pressure when you squeeze it.<\/li>\n<li>Smell the Pineapple. &nbsp;If it smells sweet and fresh before you cut into it, &nbsp;the way a pineapple should, then it&#8217;s probably ripe.<\/li>\n<li>Something most people won&#8217;t tell you or condone, but if you look at the very center of the bottom of the pineapple and see a tiny amount of white peach fuzz like mold, it is ripe and ready to cut now!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Tip: If you flip the Pineapple upside down 12 to 24 hours in advance and let gravity work in your favor, you will have a sweeter Pineapple all the way through the fruit. &nbsp;Trust me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5w-EWpImXYA?rel=0\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I know&#8230; It&#8217;s just a Pineapple!
